About Bundelkhand Riverside

The Bundelkhand Riverside Heritage hotel in Madhya Pradesh (MP) is a premier Heritage hotel in India and is built on 50 Acres of land on the banks of the River Betwa in Orchha. The Old House, which still exists, was used as a Hunting Lodge cum Guest House by the erstwhile royal family of Orchha. The present royal resort which has now become a popular destination in India, is an addition to the old construction that dates back to 1895.


The Bundelkhand Riverside luxury resort in Orchha consists of 26 Bedrooms, 17 of which are river facing and have Sit Out Verandahs from where the guests can enjoy the view of the flowing waters of the beautiful Betwa river. The luxury resort offers the fine blend of luxury and comfort.


The Guest Rooms are large (22 Ft by 20 Ft) with attached bathrooms and fireplaces and is one of the only premier luxury resorts in India to offer such a facility. All rooms have an air conditioner and phone facility. The Fire Places in each room can be lit in the winter months between November and February. The Bathrooms are large (8 Ft by 10 Ft) and have a Bidet in them.


The furniture style is Indian and British Colonial. It was hand crafted on the site where Indian carpenters and craftsmen worked for 7 years to give this premier hotel its traditional Indian look. This hotel s interior design offers a palette of local colours and materials and thus reflects the heritage and glory of the erstwhile Bundela Rulers at Orchha.


The Hotel is replete with extensive wooden and stone crafts depicting the vast cultural heritage of India, some of which are now no longer used in the building industry. It is extensive ornamented with Ceramic Tiles which were used in the buildings of the Medieval Period. (Only 2 Rajput Forts in India used tiles in medieval times and these are the Forts of Gwalior and Orchha - Datia.) Drawing inspiration from the architecture of these historical buildings this premier Orchha resort has four terrace Mughal gardens that can be used for private functions, weddings, conferences and camps.


Full Moon nights at such a Riverside hotel are divine. Guests can sit out in the Verandahs and hear and see the River flowing past. This is a facility provided by no other Orchha hotel and makes this the only such resort in entire gamut of Bundelkhand hotels to offer such a view.


Within this heritage hotel in Orchha there are monuments that are 400 years old in various states of ruins.

Children and extra beds

Free! All children under 6 years stay free of charge when using existing beds.
Free! All children under 2 years stay free of charge for children’s cots/cribs.

All older children or adults are charged approx 20-35% of the room charge per night for extra beds however please contact us for any special request for putting an extra bed/mattress in room for child or Adult sharing same room.
The maximum number of extra beds/children’s cots permitted in a room is 1/2 as per policy of the Hotel vary according to season.
Any type of extra bed or child’s cot/crib is upon request and needs to be confirmed by management.
Supplements are not calculated automatically in the total costs and will have to be paid for separately when checking out.
